Founded in 2013, a group of farmers and business leaders came together with a shared vision to introduce ostrich farming as a contender in the American red meat industry. Our founders recognized the untapped potential of ostrich meat, which is low in fat, rich in protein, and offers a unique flavor profile similar to beef.
Ostrich meat is recognized for its exceptional nutrition quality, making it an optimal choice for the health-conscious consumer. In fact, ostrich is the only red meat approved by the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. Our mission is to educate American consumers on the benefits of ostrich as a superior red meat and cultivate a community of ostrich enthusiasts across the country.
Over the years, we have developed a state-of-the-art ostrich ranching operation, combining traditional farming techniques with cutting-edge technology. Our team of experts has meticulously bred and raised our ostrich flock to ensure the highest quality production and animal welfare standards. While our ranch is not generally open to the public, we invite those interested in learning more to reach out to us directly.
The Ranch
Our ranch is located in central Texas in the town of Valley Mills. At our flagship location, we maintain over 1,000 birds with adults, juveniles, and chicks having free range over 335 acres of premium land. We have developed state-of-the-art breeding, incubation, and chick raising facilities keeping animal care at the forefront of our operation.
Premium Genetics
Our flock is reinforced with premium genetics as a result of 30+ years of meticulously breeding African black, blue, and red ostrich species. Genetic diversity is critical for the long-term survival and adaptability of a localized species. Introducing genetic variation supports disease resistance, enhances physical fitness, and promotes overall reproductive success. We are very proud of our innovative breeding program and genetic management practices at Superior Ostrich.
